Roy Boustani is a Lebanese interior architect and the Co-Founder and Design Principal of NineDesign Architects. He holds a Master in Interior Architecture from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK).
His work is guided by the belief that interior architecture should improve everyday life. Beyond appearance, a space should provide comfort, peace, security and a genuine sense of belonging—allowing people to restore their energy and engage more fully with their personal and professional lives.
At NineDesign Architects, Roy leads the studio’s creative direction and business development. He oversees the spatial concept, design language, atmosphere, materials, furniture and lighting approach of each project while developing relationships with clients, collaborators and professional partners.
Roy’s professional collaboration with his brother, Georges Boustani, began in 2003.
As a Project Manager, Roy contributed to the coordination and delivery of complex international projects.
In 2009, Roy and Georges established NineDesign Architects in Lebanon as an independent interior architecture and design practice.
The studio gave Roy the opportunity to develop and express his own philosophy: creating thoughtful environments that positively influence how people feel, live and interact.
Today, NineDesign Architects’ portfolio includes:
Roy and Georges continue to lead the practice through complementary responsibilities. Roy directs design and business development, while Georges oversees project coordination, material approvals, execution quality and programme control.

Roy maintains an active connection with the international design community through regular visits to Dubai Design Week and Maison&Objet Paris.
These annual visits allow him to explore developments in interior architecture, furniture, lighting, materials, craftsmanship and manufacturing. They also provide opportunities to exchange ideas with designers, brands, suppliers and creative professionals from different cultures and markets.
In 2021, Roy was invited by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), through the Embassy of Italy in Beirut, to join a professional delegation attending Expo 2020 Dubai.
The experience provided direct exposure to international perspectives on architecture, design, innovation, sustainability and cultural exchange—further strengthening his belief that design can connect people and contribute positively to society.
Roy believes that quality design should not be limited to private or commercial environments. Public spaces should also offer dignity, comfort and a sense of belonging to the communities they serve.
At the request of Jounieh Municipality, he developed the concept for a 5,500 m² free public beach focused on accessibility, comfort and community well-being.
The proposal reflects his belief that free public access should never mean compromised design. Instead, civic spaces should express respect and appreciation for the people they serve.
The project remains at concept stage with the municipality, with execution anticipated to begin in early 2027.
Design Philosophy
Roy describes his design identity as Calm Luxury Minimalism.
For him, luxury is not defined by excess, decoration or the cost of materials. It is found in proportion, comfort, clarity, craftsmanship and the quality of the experience created for the people inside a space.
Minimalism does not mean emptiness. It means removing what is unnecessary so that light, materials, movement and human experience can become more meaningful.
Positive energy is central to Roy’s work. He understands it not as an applied style, but as a spatial quality created through balance, natural light, thoughtful circulation, material warmth and emotional comfort.
A home should offer peace and security. A workplace should support clarity, confidence and focus. A hospitality environment should make people feel welcomed and cared for.
His objective is to create spaces in which people feel safe, comfortable and connected—as though the space genuinely belongs to them.
The effect of a space on the people who inhabit it is more important than visual impact alone.
Planning, circulation, proportion, furniture and daily use should work together naturally and intuitively.
Light, movement, materials and atmosphere should create comfort, calm and emotional renewal.
Materials should be authentic and appropriate, while every design should respond to its client, location, culture and architectural context.
Every element should have a purpose, and the strength of the concept must be protected through technical detailing, material approvals and careful implementation.
Design Education and Insights
Roy shares his professional knowledge through short-form design masterclasses published across digital platforms.
His content explores spatial planning, circulation, furniture proportion, lighting, materials, atmosphere and the emotional influence of interior architecture.
Through these insights, he aims to improve public awareness of interior design and demonstrate how the quality of a space can directly influence behaviour, comfort and everyday life.
